WeChat, a mobile texting and voice messaging app developed by Chinese firm Tencent announced new Location-based features for BlackBerry users. This new version contains features like ‘Look Around’ and ‘QR code scanning’. These features will allow the users to add new friends or acquaintances by allowing them to search the surrounding areas for other WeChat users.

Along with this, new animated emotion icons are being also added to this version. The WeChat version 1.0 for the BlackBerry was launched earlier this year in India. Now the company is extremely happy with the launch of the 2.0 version.  “We designed the new Blackberry version for the purpose of providing a fun social communication platform for Blackberry but in the process, we have not compromised when it came to the user experience and performance stability which is what WeChat is known for”, says Dennis Hau, Head of International Product Center, International Business Group.
