M-tech has launched a number of affordable feature phones in the market. And the latest among them is the M-tech M15, which offers dual SIM support at a very decent price. But how does it shape up in this extremely volatile segment?
The M-tech M15 looks decent enough with solid build quality. Though we found the phone a bit heavy and on the thicker side but the reason behind phone’s thickness is the 1800 mAh battery inside it - now that is a compromise that we think a lot of users in this segment will be happy to accept. The phone comes in black and red colour combination with the screen and speaker grill at the back. There is a black strip around the phone and rest of the body is in red colour. Speaking for ourselves, we found the red colour a bit gaudy but the device is available in other colours as well. The body of the phone is glossy and very sensitive to fingerprints but is comfortable to hold.
The M-tech M15 comes with a 2.4 inch display which is a rarity in this price range. We are highly impressed with the quality of the display. For connectivity the phone has Bluetooth and auto GPRS configuration, which is an added advantage as one does have to much
around finding Internet settings or call up the operator for getting them. The phone memory can be expanded by 16 GB with the help of microSD card. When it comes to Internet browsing, the phone provides a decent experience.
Although the M-tech M15 is an entry-level phone, it comes with some good applications preloaded on it, including Yahoo!, Facebook, Twitter and MSN, as well as two games - Pacman and Tetris. Apart from that, the device also has some basic applications like alarm, world clock, currency converter, and e-book reader. The phone also has a link for King Movie from where one can download interesting material. The user interface of M-tech M15 is simple, making it an uncomplicated phone to use.
The multimedia section of the phone had a bucketful of surprises for us. The audio of the phone is loud enough to wake up your neighbours, thanks to the fact that it comes with a Boom Box Bazooka speaker, which delivers a really loud sound. The music player also contains some basic features like equalizer settings. The FM reception of the phone is good and one can store up to 20 channels on it. The phone was capable of playing videos with ease. On the imaging side, the phone comes with a 1.3 megapixel camera which is again a treat in this price range. The camera takes decent pictures and can also record videos.
Our experience with the phone was good. We like the multimedia features of the phone and the Internet browsing experience was also decent. The phone has a 1800 mAh battery which delivers very good back up.
All in all, the M-tech M15 can be seen as a good dual SIM offering for anyone who is on a tight budget and wants a phone with decent multimedia and dual SIM support. One can also look for Chaze Jewel as a good alternative, which is available in the market for Rs 1,850.
