Intex Aqua Wonder Review
1 Flares 1 Flares ×

It is budget Android season with manufacturers churning out low price options to grab market share. Intex has also come to the party with its Aqua Wonder. But how wonderful is it really?

Looks: Routine

The Intex Aqua Wonder is unlikely to stand out in the Android crowd. It is available in two colours- White and Black (we got the White unit). The phone has round corners and is surrounded by a shiny silver ribbon. It is lightweight and comfortable to hold. The on/off button is given on the right side and the volume rocker on the left. The charging slot and the 3.5mm audio jack are placed at the top panel of the phone, and rear contains the 8.0- megapixel camera and the speakers. Hogging the front is the 4.5-inch display with three soft keys forOptions, Home and Return.

Hardware: Impressive

The Intex Aqua Wonder comes with a 4.5-inch IPS capacitive display and is powered by a 1 GHz processor that works well if not clogged with too many apps. It comes with dual SIM functionality (GSM + GSM), packs 512MB RAM and has 1.93GB internal memory which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card. On the connectivity front, the smartphone offers 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, and GPS. Keeping all this ticking is a 1,800 mAh battery.

Software: Jelly Bean served

Unlike some budget smartphones, the Intex Aqua Wonder comes with a relatively new version of Android – 4.1 or Jelly Bean. The user interface is simple. It has five customizable homescreens, which can be customised with the shortcuts for apps and widgets. Along with this there are fixed shortcuts for calling, contacts, messaging and a Web browser. The device comes with some pre-loaded apps like Facebook, WhatsApp, Nimbuzz, Skype and many others.

 Multimedia: Very good

The phone come equipped with an 8.0-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, which takes good shots in daylight as well as in dim light. The 1.3-megapixel front facing camera is good enough for video calling. The music and sound quality of the phone are also very good, with sound quality on headphones being particularly impressive. The device was able to handle most popular video and audio formats with ease.

User experience: More than satisfactory

The Intex Aqua Wonder worked well. The battery backup of the device was also decent and the battery lasted to a day with hefty use. However, the phone did slow down from time to time. Intex is also bundling a 4GB memory card, a screen guard and a mobile cover pouch with the handset, sweetening the deal further.

The Intex Aqua Wonder is priced at Rs 9,990, making it a good option for those looking for<br />
a budget smartphone with a good camera. An alternative is the Micromax A110 which offers a 5.0-inch display at a similar price.
